CrazyRide Trailer Discussion

September 17, 2019

Hello, everyone. I have returned momentarily from my oppressive hiatus. I want to apologize for not posting in over a month, because I sorely miss keeping in touch with y'all. College has become the most major priority in my life. And when I'm not in classes, doing homework, writing for RePlay, or tending to my revenue-share arcade operations, I like to...well, do nothing! Sometimes, it feels really, really nice to take a break.

But the excuses for my absence listed above shouldn't hold me back. I intend to slowly but surely get back into the Wilcox Arcade blog, even if I'm not terribly consistent about it. We've been here before (reunion post after chunky hiatus), and I'd rather not go here again.

Today, I'd like to share with you a Wilcox Arcade project I'm particularly proud of: my first "real" YouTube video. (It's debatable whether the "Audio Articles" count.) I figured doing an impromptu recording would be a much less painless process than an intensive article. And at the end of the day, as long as I get the news to you, I've done my job, right?

That was the thinking as I dove into the meat of the CrazyRide trailer. If you're even slightly interested in UNIS' new Crazy Taxi "inspired" title, I highly suggest you tune in.

Two brief notes before you begin:

(1) CrazyRide is no way affiliated with Sega or the Crazy Taxi IP. Some would say the similarities are a little too blatant...and some are just happy we're finally getting a new game in this style.

(2) I have not yet played CrazyRide. What I typically do on my blog is gather as many details as I can from promotional materials and use those to formulate impressions beforehand. This may seem implied, but I still want to provide full disclosure.

With those legal bits out of the way, I sincerely hope you enjoy the video.

I also recommend watching the original, unedited trailer footage for context.

Overall, I think it's clear I'm excited for CrazyRide. Whether it will live it up to my expectations or not yet is, of course, yet to be determined. But who am I kidding? I haven't been this hyped up for a new game release since Enter the Gungeon: House of the Gundead. Assuming UNIS can deliver a quality product, we arcade gamers will have a very special title on our hands.

Until next time—goodness knows when that will be—I'm out. Have a beautiful day, you sweaty, sweaty nerds.
