Wilcox Arcade: The 300th Post

After six long years of click-clacking on my MacBook keyboard, I’ve finally published my 300th post to the Wilcox Arcade blog. Time sure flies, doesn’t it?

Given my fondness for numbered milestones — inspired by my youth spent reading comics — I figured this particle sum would be as suitable as any to commemorate. It’s not every day someone as prone to fleeting phases of hyper-fixation as myself manages to stick with one hobby for as long as I have.

Yes, my interest in arcades has waned and waxed throughout the years — resulting in many a lengthy hiatus — but I’m immensely grateful so many of y’all have stuck around all this time regardless. I can’t thank you enough for reading my random ramblings.

As of 2023, my output seems to have stabilized to some degree, seeing as how I publish simple articles whenever I see fit. Writing what I want when I want without monetizing it feels so much better than trying to turn my blog into a self-sustaining business.

Granted, I’ve saved many of my more serious editorials for my column in RePlay Magazine because that actually pays the bills, but I’d never forsake this here web-based platform. Wilcox Arcade is what made me the man I am today.

While I have you here, I suppose I may as well do the whole “General Update” shtick. I spent the entire summer of 2022 writing a dark comedy flick with my friends, which will hopefully begin full production in August. It’ll be our second production following Grief last semester. Making movies and TV shows makes me quite happy.

In terms of leisure, I’m still pretty obsessed with a variety of programs on YouTube TV, and my CD collections continues to explode month over month. My focus has remained pretty firmly targeted on Scooby-Doo and metalcore as of late. What a wacky combination, huh?

Of course, I’m also in the process of trying to reignite my location-based entertainment business, though I may not pursue that as heavily until I find more permanent residence post-graduation. In the meantime, I’ve mainly been playing games at other operators’ locations. (Rest in peace The Hungry Bear in Murray, Kentucky. Your breakfast platters and NBA Jam cabinet will be missed.)

But yeah, that’s about it for me. I hope y’all have a good day. Here’s a healthy dose of head-bangin’ to ensure that’s the case:
