Raw Thrills Uploads an Official Trailer and Webpage for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

May 2, 2018

It's here, everybody. At long last, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles arcade brawler is finally here.

A few days ago, Raw Thrills updated their website to include TMNT 2018. I had considered writing an article about it, but I figured it wasn't too big of a deal. Raw Thrills has been heavily promoting the game on all of their social media pages anyway.

The page doesn't appear to be fully fleshed out just yet, but here are a few of the deets:

  • Completely new four-player action/adventure amusement game inspired by Konami's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time and based on the recent Nickelodeon TV series

  • A re-imagining of the action brawler genre with new levels, gameplay, difficulty, pacing, and approachability updated for modern gamers

  • Featuring the 3-D models from the hit animated TV show as well as the A-list voice talent like Seth Green, Sean Astin, Gilbert Gottfried and more

  • large 55” HD screen, illuminated LED buttons & trim, attractive marquee, and 4 player terminals in a compact footprint

We also get to see the brand-spanking-new cabinet design for the final production version of the game. I love it.

Of course, all of this information is old hat by this point. We know what TMNT 2018 is, and we love it. But luckily for us, Raw Thrills didn't stop there. Earlier today, they uploaded an official promotional trailer for the game, too.

Update 5/4/18: For reasons still yet unknown, Raw Thrills deleted the original video on May 3rd and re-uploaded it today. As far as I can tell, nothing has changed (except for the fact that comments are enabled this time around). Here's the new video:

I don't know about you, but I enjoyed that trailer a bit more than most Raw Thrills trailers. Usually, Raw Thrills creates a "trailer" that inevitably becomes the attract mode in the final version of the game, but this was clearly crafted from the ground up as a true piece of promotional material. We get a great look at the cabinet and a solid run-down on the details. Here a few more deets we got from the trailer:

  • Audio is output through a "powerful 200W sound system"

  • The game is run on an HP computer with a three-year warranty for operators

My personal favorite segment of the video was the "The Hype is Real!" Which, based on this screenshot, you can easily guess why.

In a montage of the press surrounding TMNT, Raw Thrills included a screenshot of my article. It blew my FLIPPING MIND! I'm only 17 years old, and maybe—just maybe—my humble arcade blog is starting to gain very real acceptance within the broader arcade community!

Granted, Raw Thrills had reached out to me through Twitter about a week in ago in regards to quoting me in an upcoming social media post about TMNT. Still, I had no idea it would be THIS. (So, if anyone from Raw Thrills is reading, thank you!)

But of course, I'm not here to toot my own proverbial horn. The rest of the trailer is fairly standard. It features 20 or so seconds of precious gameplay footage and concludes with some sales information. While I would kill for some more official gameplay footage, I'm happy with what we have. This is a good trailer.

So with all that in mind, there's nothing left for us to do but go out and support Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Go to your local arcade (yes, Dave and Buster's counts) and play the crud out of this game. I've said it before and I'll say it again: It is absolutely worth playing.

In case you missed my official (and highly detailed) preview of the game, check it out here.

I'm happy. See y'all nerds later.
