Onion Soup Interactive announced yesterday that a 20-minute UEDI: Shadow of the Citadel demo will be playable this week as part of Steam Game Festival: Summer Edition.
“In UEDI: Shadow of the Citadel, players will shoot and loot their way through a huge open world ARPG featuring a colorful 80's anime aesthetic and soundtrack,” said Onion Soup community manager Amy Madin in a press release.
The demo will grant players the opportunity to meet protagonist Uedi as she crash lands on an unfamiliar land and begins to uncover the enigma of evil dictator Hazuki. Players will engage in real-time combat against foes that “react tactically” to their actions, as well as search for supplies, spare parts, and ammunition to aid in their journey.
To coincide with the demo release, the developers are inviting players to join their “Dev Live Stream and Discord Q&A” on June 20 at 4pm (BST)/ 8am (PDT)/ 11am (EDT). During this event, the team will unveil “player customization, story characters and drivable vehicles.”
“Onion Soup encourages players to set a reminder for the Dev Live Stream and Discord Q&A and help support UEDI: Shadow of the Citadel by adding the game to their Steam Wishlist via the Steam store page,” Madin said.
(I should probably disclose that I myself am a member of the Onion Soup Interactive Discord server. I just so happen to enjoy talking to the developers and interacting with the community.)
Onion Soup Interactive is the indie development studio behind 2018’s Nippon Marathon, a title that I’ve discussed extensively on this very blog.
UEDI: Shadow of the Citadel is projected to release for Steam Early Access in Q1 2021. For more information, check out my April article documenting the title’s planned features.
