Kentuckians Love Switch ‘N’ Shoot

Player testimonials have shown me that Switch ‘N’ Shoot can easily win over the game-playing populace of Murray, Kentucky.
So far, I’ve contacted four individuals with a proposition: trying Switch ‘N’ Shoot, free of charge, so I could record their reactions. It’s been a great way for me to see firsthand how the uninitiated react to this lesser-known indie experience.
The first couple whom I contacted are friends of my wife Jordan Harrell: Irian Christie and her boyfriend Yosef. Although the initial plan to was to bring along even more pals for the ride, I’m actually glad that I could focus solely on these two — through the lens of retrospect — because it proved to be a charming microcosm of their relationship.
Yosef in particular learned to play smarter, not harder: “Be patient. Don’t try to rush the mash…. Just try to think about the right timing.”
Next up was Boaz Burnett, who also tried Switch ‘N’ Shoot with girlfriend. Boaz, being inclined toward computer games, quickly caught on to the conceit of the title — but that didn’t necessarily guarantee him a high score.
“If it’s your first time playing Switch ‘N’ Shoot, definitely bring more than just one quarter,” he recommended. “It took me for or five tries just to figure out the controls. It’s just so different from anything else that I’ve played.”
And that part right there is why I propositioned these player testimonials in the first place: The people of western Kentucky have, to date, been largely unfamiliar with Switch ‘N’ Shoot and may have overlooked it without my intervention.
Now, that’s not to say the cabinet could never speak for itself, but compared to a massive Raw Thrills release bearing a recognizable brand, it might have had harder time of doing so. I’m very much oriented toward providing greater access to such indie gems in my native region — which, to me, involves heavily promoting them.
Call me inefficient until the cows come home, but I’m more than happy to evangelize to people on a one-on-one basis if that’s what it takes. Switch ‘N’ Shoot is certainly deserving of the attention. Plus, I like editing videos. (TV is perhaps my second-strongest passion after coin-op.)
If you’d like to offer your own testimonial, don’t hesitate to contact me, either via wilcoxarcade@gmail.com or 270-484-8161. Any Wilcox Arcade social media channel would also work just as well.
(Spoiler alert: I ordered an Engage Pulse card reader for Switch ‘N’ Shoot, so it should soon be easier than ever to enjoy.)
