Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is Now Available for Pre-Order Through Betson

Good news, kiddos: We’re now that much closer to experiencing the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game from Raw Thrills in all of its arcade glory.

In a Tweet and blog article released on April 3rd, Betson, one of the largest arcade game distributors in the U.S., announced that preorders were now open for Raw Thrills’ incredible TMNT-themed beat-em-up revival.

For those of you who somehow may have missed it, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a brand-new sidescrolling brawler developed by Raw Thrills. It takes much of its inspiration from the classic Konami games while also updating the genre in numerous and incredible ways. If you’d like to get a better feel for it, here’s the promotional flyer, some gameplay footage, and all of the currently available screenshots:

While Raw Thrills hasn't updated their website yet to include Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Betson's Tweet was still confirmation that we WILL be playing this game—soon.

I myself have been ludricously excited for TMNT 2018 ever since it was first announced in October of 2017. I first wrote an article proclaiming it to be the savior of the arcade industry—a true remedy for the lack of genre diversity we’ve experienced lately. (My second article was a bit different. I dug into all the screenshots and gameplay footage we had seen up to that point.)

We still don’t know if other developers will follow in Raw Thrills’ footsteps and create their own beat-em-ups (or other exciting new genre revivals), but I think it’s safe to say that the entire industry is watching Raw Thrills really closely right now. I know the vast majority of us are tired of seeing almost nothing but racing and shooting games flooding the modern arcade industry, so we all want TMNT to succeed.

In the meantime, stay tuned for my in-depth thoughts on TMNT 2018 this coming Monday. I actually got to play a location test version of the game at Arcadia in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, so I’ve got real experience behind my opinion! In short, the game was fantastic, but naturally, there’s a bit more to it than that.
