Wilcox Arcade Takes Over Trends N Treasures

Wilcox Arcade is officially firing on all cylinders at Trends N Treasures in Murray, Kentucky — offering a mix of video gaming and bulk vending by the entrance.

Over the weekend, my friend Cadence Utterback and my wife Jordan Wilcox helped me move most of my machines from Know-a-Guy and Basement Bar Collectibles to their new home at, again, Trends N Treasures.

This includes Switch ‘N’ Shoot — an indie video game that you literally can’t find anywhere else in the commonwealth of Kentucky — along with three bulk vending machines cumulatively containing Hatsune Miku stickers, Hello Kitty stickers, Dragon Ball Z stickers, Rick & Morty keychains, squishy rubber ducks, and Pokémon cards.

Don’t worry: Fun-E-Ball continues to stand stall at Trends N Treasures, now joined by this quartet of new additions. We’ll see where I wind up placing that Wilcox Arcade classic in the future, as I’ll probably want to swap it for my Skycurser video game as soon as possible.

Now, as you may have already deduced, five machines are a whole lot to fit on one wall — the finite space I’ve been granted at this location — so yes, Centipede and Tekken 2 had to go elsewhere. I’ve more or less made up my mind to sell them, what with my intentions to prioritize modern releases in the future.

That’s one bit that’s kind of unique about running a route of coin-operated machines, even if it can pose challenges: Much like the Saturday-morning cartoon blocks of my childhood (on The CW and such), I only have so “hours” at my disposal to “program” — or rather, I only have so many square feet at my disposal to fill. I suppose that forces me to keep things fresh.

But anyway, that gets you up to speed on what’s happening with Wilcox Arcade in western Kentucky. Although I’ll miss those two other locations on my route, I’m super pumped to give Trends N Treasures the attention it deserves, before eventually expanding into other venues. Goodness knows I’m still trying to crack the Hopkinsville market.

Thank you again to Cade Utterback and Jordan Wilcox for the assist a couple days ago — and thank you, the players, for keeping Wilcox Arcade alive. I sure do adore providing greater access to quality out-of-home entertainment in this region.
