I’m Discounting My Most Popular Game Next Week…

You may not believe your eyes when you read this blog post.

Why? Because I’m doing something some people may consider downright bonkers: I’m temporarily discounting Switch ’N’ Shoot from 25 cents per credit — to a measly five.

To clarify, instead of paying with quarters like usual, you’ll do so using literal nickels, a kind of coinage I’ve never officially accepted on the Wilcox Arcade route. I’d wager that, during this promotion, Switch ’N’ Shoot will become the cheapest form of entertainment you can find in all of western Kentucky.

This aggressive discount is not without reason: As many of you may already know, Switch ’N’ Shoot is approaching its one-year anniversary of availability at Know-a-Guy in Murray, Kentucky. My intention is to commemorate the occasion in such a manner that it could actually encourage new players to give this indie arcade gem a whirl.

You see, Switch ’N’ Shoot is…notably difficult, to say the least, and not everyone can jive with that. Even so, as someone who can now net thousands in one run, I genuinely believe that anyone can learn how to play.  My earnest hope is that slashing of the price will afford more patrons than opportunity. (The instruction sheet I set atop the Switch ’N’ Shoot cabinet should also help you get to grips with the experience.)

I don’t subscribe to the idea that arcade games are designed to steal your money — because Switch ’N’ Shoot sure isn’t — but that won’t guarantee your first go at something will be completely frictionless. Even at home, video games are generally intended to challenge as much as they are entertain.

There’s also something to be said for my keeping prices stunningly low in the year 2026. Life is so brutal for everyone these days, myself included, that I’d rather not exacerbate the situation via my nonessential business. I will always strive to be the fairest coin-op option in western Kentucky. In other words, I’m after your trust more than your dollars.

But perhaps I’m getting off track here: The point is that Switch ’N’ Shoot will cost you only five cents per credit during the week of its one-year anniversary at Know-a-Guy in Murray, Kentucky. Just to hammer it home, there likely won’t be a better time to try it any time soon.

Switch ’N’ Shoot is a remarkable, little game — at least in my humble opinion — so I guess that’s why still I push it as hard as I do. While it isn’t the flashiest thing around, the addictive nature of its simplistic gameplay loop has a way of hooking folks of all ages, nations, and creeds. (Heck, you might just be the next “victim” to “fall prey” to Switch ’N’ Shoot yourself….)

As always, thank you so much to everyone who has supported the Wilcox Arcade route thus far. I reckon the whole world will eventually hop aboard the indie arcade train at this rate.
