Full transparency: I’m the kind of business owner who believes that any update, no matter how small it may seem, is worthy of sharing with the public, because…well, I appreciate transparency.
So here’s another dose of — say it with me — transparency: This particular update is pretty miniscule in the grand scheme of life, but it at least means something to me.
With all that waffling out of the way, I wanted to let everyone know that I’ve added a new assortment of treats to the Wilcox Arcade candy machine at Know-a-Guy in Murray, Kentucky.
Said assortment is billed by its distributor as “just the good stuff.” More specifically, that claim encompasses Icee popping candy, Slush Puppie popping candy, Dippin’ Dots popping candy, Now and Later, Toxic Waste, Zots, and Warheads.
Although I favor chocolate myself — something you’ll notice at a yet-to-be-announced Wilcox Arcade route location in Cadiz — even I can perceive the value in the sheer variety of sweets now at your disposal at Know-a-Guy. Now and Later especially resonates with my gluttonous sensibilities, and to her credit, my wife has somewhat warmed me up to the sour options.
Previously, I exclusively offered Haribo Goldbears via my candy machine at Know-a-Guy, which I honestly believed would be enticing enough on their own, but I’m seeing now that more is often better. People might actually enjoy the “mystery” of which candy capsule they could receive, at least to some extent.
(If you liked those Haribos, don’t worry one ounce; I left a smattering in the mixture so they wouldn’t go to waste. Eat ‘em up while you can.)
It bears repeating just how crucial bulk vending is as part of the Wilcox Arcade route. While, of course, if we were to rank the two, video games would be my preference, to this day, as a grown man, I still get a tremendous kick out of purchasing simple pleasures for 25 cents, 50 cents, even 75 cents a pop.
From my perspective, this speaks to a greater societal implication: Everything is so cripplingly expensive nowadays that a gumball is just about the only indulgence anyone can afford. And you know what? I’m happy that Wilcox Arcade can play a role in that.
‘
But yeah, my candy machine at Know-a-Guy is now fully-stocked with extra goodies. Make sure to purchase a capsule any time you’re at the store…and heck, play Switch ‘N’ Shoot, too.
On the subject of video games, Skycurser is still on the way — as soon as I can acquire its new cabinet, one meant to match Switch ‘N’ Shoot a bit better.
That’s all I have for now, folks. I’ll see you at Know-a-Guy soon.
