We’re at T-minus one day until Galactic Battleground lands in western Kentucky.
Tomorrow will mark the first time ever that the aforementioned multiplayer space shooter will be available to play in our commonwealth — specifically at Basement Bar Collectibles in Benton. After all, my goal with Wilcox Arcade has always been to provide better access to stuff like this.
By “stuff like this,” I’m referring to the distinguishing status of Galactic Battleground as an indie arcade game. In other words, it was developed by a small team of independent creators, as opposed to a big-time manufacturer.
Slackerz Inc. was the crew behind this one, selling me the cabinet at a pretty reasonable price. Now, with mere hours to go until the people of my region experience something they’ve never seen before, I’m feeling particularly grateful for this opportunity.
I first played Galactic Battleground at Midwest Gaming Classic in April 2024. Through the lens of retrospect, the gameplay is best described as four-player Galaga — only you’re shooting at each other. I believed so strongly in that simple hook that I became eager to place this title on the Wilcox Arcade route. If nothing else, it’s practically one of a kind ‘round here.
Basement Bar Collectibles seemed like a surefire spot for Galactic Battleground, considering it’s already a haven for groups to go at it. Magic the Gathering this is not, but it’ll certainly serve to fill time between matches.
As always, I fully intend to sweeten the deal. The first 25 paying players will each receive a one-inch Wilcox Arcade pin for their interest. On top of that, the first contender who wins a multiplayer match will earn a Wilcox Arcade trucker hat — and the next two will earn miniature Dance Dance Revolution and Galaga arcade cabinets.
The impending arrival of Galactic Battleground will signal my continued commitment to the indie arcade scene. If anything I’ve said here has resonated with you, I wholeheartedly recommend that you meet me tomorrow afternoon at Basement Bar Collectibles.
Indie arcade games are awesome, and Galactic Battleground will affirm as much. Be there — in downtown Benton, Kentucky — Sunday, June 1st, at 4 p.m. CST.

This is fantastic news for arcade fans in Kentucky! It’s great to see an indie game like Galactic Battleground getting local attention. I really appreciate how you’re bringing unique gaming experiences to new spots. Just like a fresh crew cut fade, it’s clean, bold, and sure to turn heads. Can’t wait to check it out at Basement Bar Collectibles — it’s going to be awesome!
Galactic Battleground in Kentucky tomorrow? That’s wild—I’m actually heading that way, might swing by. Anyone know if it’s casual or super competitive? Oh, and if you need to track stuff for another game, check out this calculator I found—it’s been handy.
