The All-Day Switch ‘N’ Shoot Tournament Starts Tomorrow

When we wake up tomorrow, we won’t need to wait any longer: The all-day Switch ‘N’ Shoot tournament will finally begin.
Maybe I should provide some context. Any time tomorrow, August 2nd, you can swing by Know-a-Guy in Murray, Kentucky, to play Switch ‘N’ Shoot (just as you usually would). The difference that day, though, is that your highest score could put you in the running for awesome prizes.
Let’s break those down, shall we? The top five players will all win one signed CD copy of “Monster Tape Zero,” a future funk album by Groovy Kaiju. The top three players will win Wilcox Arcade-branded merchandise — including a flying disc, can cooler, and pin for the first-place player; a drawstring bag and magnet for second place; and a keychain and sticker for third place.
Possibly best of all, the first-place player will also receive an actual Switch ‘N’ Shoot arcade cabinet marquee, provided by game developer DSM Arcade. Now, that’s something I’d stick on my wall if I were you.
To make sure no one misses out, I plan to hang around Know-a-Guy as much as possible the day of the event. I even made Wilcox Arcade signs reading “CONTEST TODAY” to point drivers passing on five-points toward the fun.
My wife Jordan Harrell will also be there, wearing the first (and only) Wilcox Arcade-branded collared shirt. She deserves the distinction for being such an integral part of the business — and dare I say the only reason it resurfaced in 2024.
Long story short, I’m really looking forward to all the scores I’ll see this Saturday during the all-day Switch ‘N’ Shoot tournament. I’m also grateful for the immense support I’ve seen from companies and players alike: Know-a-Guy, Wits’ End Records, Groovy Kaiju, DSM Arcade, Matt Glannville, Indie Arcade Wave, Teem Fleeg, Abbie Michalek, and others have all done their part to spread the word.
I’d love to pull off something like this again, depending on how Saturday goes. In the meantime, don’t miss this week’s Switch ‘N’ Shoot tournament — happening at Know-a-Guy in Murray, Kentucky.
